“Windows” into
the future for
manufacturers
In the past, when manufacturers looked for new suppliers, they used the Thomas Directory or other published sources. Increasingly, however, manufacturers rely on advanced online sources, so Ohio’s Edison Centers are leading the way in delivering these tools.
The Edison Manufacturers Network (EMN), the creation of TechSolve and its partners, is a free, secure online communication portal for buyers, manufacturers of custom parts and assemblies, providers of secondary operations, and providers of professional services. EMN brings buyers and suppliers together, and facilitates prompt and accurate sourcing that complements any business procurement process.
Problem: CCPI Inc. is family of companies that provides temperature measurement solutions to the ferrous, non-ferrous, heat treatment and glass industries. They were in need of a local supplier for a key component of their new TunTemp product. Its previous supplier was located off-shore and had all the typical related issues, including poor communications, long lead times and high shipping costs.
Solution: With the help of TechSolve and the Edison Manufacturers Network (EMN), CCPI Inc. secured Xenia-based Custom Manufacturing Solutions, a “build-to-print-specifications” metalworking contract manufacturer to supply them with the key component. Both companies are members of EMN and found each other through this portal.
Results: CCPI Inc. secured a local supplier that reduced both its costs and its lead time. Custom Manufacturing Solutions secured a new customer who has continued to order additional parts.
A new local customer found me on the Edison Manufacturers Network and sent an RFQ that matched my manufacturing capabilities. I now have a new customer who has ordered another 2000 units.
I highly recommend the Edison Manufacturers Network.
