Worldwide resource
for Ohio’s Biosciences

As bioscience manufacturers, universities, and research organizations worldwide grow, BioOhio continues its work to ensure that Ohio resources multiply the effects of that growth.

“Everyone was aware that Ohio’s bioscience supply chain partners and specialized service providers have so much to offer the market,” said Dr. Tony Dennis, President and CEO of BioOhio. “But we also knew that in order to spread the word, we had to collect information about these organizations in one, convenient place.”

To address that goal, BioOhio began work in 2008 assembling the amazing array of the state’s bioscience resources into a single directory. Out of that research came the new version of the online Ohio Bioscience Resource Directory, containing more than a thousand Ohio-based suppliers and service providers.

On March 16, the 1st Annual BioOhio Suppliers & Service Providers Expo at the Aladdin Shrine Center in Columbus will bring this directory to life. The expo will feature more than 50 manufacturers, service firms, consultants and other bioscience-related companies from Ohio showcasing their capabilities to potential partners and clients.

As Ohio shares the wealth of its resources with the world, it also grows our state’s wealth; just recently, Ohio’s bioscience industry was recognized as the fourth strongest in the U.S. This impressive growth performance garners increasing worldwide attention—as well as revenue and jobs—to the state.

Ohio bioscience makes its mark in Germany, too
Late last year, BioOhio, The Ohio Business Development Coalition (OBDC) and the Ohio Department of Development’s Europe Office worked at MEDICA, the massive medical products tradeshow event in Dusseldorf. More than 138,000 trade visitors from more than 100 countries attended.

The Ohio team had great success. One-on-one meetings with 36 companies led to commitments from at least four companies to establish a physical presence in Ohio or expand their existing presence. “It was,” said John Lewis, BioOhio VP & COO, “the most productive series of high-value meetings I have had at any single event.”
